Music Therapy at Regis School of Music

We are delighted to be partnering with WAVES Music Therapy to bring Music Therapy to Regis School of Music from September.

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is an established, evidence-based clinical intervention delivered by a qualified, HCPC-registered music therapist. It uses music - through listening, playing, singing, or improvising - to help people of all ages address a wide range of emotional, psychological, physical, communication, and social needs.

Unlike a music lesson, music therapy isn't about learning to play an instrument or developing musical skill. No musical experience or ability is needed to take part. Instead, the music therapist uses musical interaction as a way to build a therapeutic relationship, offering a creative and often non-verbal way to express feelings, process experiences, and support wellbeing.

Music therapy can support a broad range of people, including children and adults with:

Autism and learning disabilities
Mental health difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem
Communication and speech difficulties
Dementia and other neurological conditions
Physical disabilities
Emotional and behavioural difficulties

Sessions are tailored to the individual and may take place one-to-one or in small groups, depending on need.

Our Resident Music Therapist
Our music therapy sessions are delivered by our resident Music Therapist, Anna Steyn. Anna can be contacted directly via our Teachers page.
