About
An event put on by FUP
In 2019, musician Mary Hampton travelled to Newcastle to perform at an all-day event curated by Richard Dawson. Also on the bill was Nev Clay, a name long spoken of with reverence among fellow artists. From the opening moments of his set, it was clear that something special was unfolding — by the second song, the room was entirely captivated.
In his own words, Nev Clay has been “clarting about” the Newcastle music scene for more than 30 years. His songs vividly portray the local area and the people who inhabit it, while his distinctive guitar playing and lyrical craft have inspired both emerging talent and established musicians alike.
Appearances in the South are rare. However, following the release of his album So Little Happened for So Long, he travelled down in 2025 for a session on BBC Radio 6 Music with Mark Radcliffe and Gideon Coe.
FUP is therefore delighted to welcome Nev Clay to Bognor Regis for a special one-off performance. This is not part of a tour, making it a particularly rare opportunity for southern audiences to experience this celebrated and singular artist live.
“everybody who hears him falls in love, and I’ve seen it happen time and time again.” – KLOF Magazine
“A hugely skilled guitarist… Nev makes what he does look effortless, but his is a unique talent. ” – Gus Ironside, Louder Than War
